The YMCA Gators Swim Team is one of the fastest growing programs in the Geneva area.   The concept of “everybody swims, everybody wins” is the foundation for competition in our program.  Swimmers compete locally, state wide and on a national level based on their ability.  Children will learn about team spirit and setting personal goals.  Parents will choose the level of involvement for their child.  * Swimmers do need to be a member of the Geneva Family YMCA and be able to swim 2 lengths of the pool to participate.  Special Swim Team 6 month memberships are available, please inquire at the YMCA front desk for more information.

Swim Team is divided into 4 different Groups:

Green Team:  Beginning Swimmers - This group will learn to develop the four competitive strokes and are encouraged to attend 2 - 3 practices per week at the YMCA.

Red Team:  Intermediate Swimmers - This group increases practice requirements to 3 - 4 times per week at the YMCA.

White Team:  Advanced Swimmers - This group is for the more competitive swimmer.  There are practice requirements and kids are encouraged to attend meets.  Emphasis is placed on the complete development of a competitive swimmer.  Practice 3 - 4 times per week at Geneva Middle School.

Blue Team:  Advanced Competitive Swimmers - This is for the serious swimmer.  There are practice requirements and swim meet attendance is strongly encouraged.  This group continues to develop the competitive swimmer with goals of high school and college competition.  Practice 4 - 5 times per week at Geneva Middle School.

March 22 - June 2010

This brand new program is a division of our existing YMCA Gators Swim Team for children 7 and up with disabilities.   Participants will train to compete in Special Olympic Swim Meets at the Regional, State and National Levels.  Swimmers will learn various strokes, work on improving speed and technique and receive training on competitive flip turns and starts both from the pool deck and USA approved starting blocks.   Many parents of Special Olympians report that their child’s participation promoted social adjustment, life satisfaction, family support, and community involvement.
