City of Geneva Senior Gold Program
The Geneva YMCA and the City of Geneva partner on a senior gold program for City of Geneva residents 65 years of age or older. Seniors have access to the Geneva YMCA Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 9 AM to 12 noon only. One aquatics class and one aerobics class is scheduled for each of these days for a total of six free classes per week. Additionally, city residents have complete access to the Y’s Fitness Center, Cardio Room and pool during this time. The program is funded by the City of Geneva and is free for qualified residents. Gold Card program cards can be obtained by completing an application at the Geneva YMCA and by providing a driver’s license or City tax bill.
ACTIVE OLDER ADULTS
Silver Sneakers - Muscular Strength & Range of Motion
This class is designed to increase strength, range of movement, agility, balance and coordination, and to improve participants' functional capabilities, physical fitness level and sense of well being. Entire class may be done in the chair so perfect for individuals who are sedentary, intimidated, unfamiliar with exercise or entering post-rehabilitation programs, and /or those who enjoy a positive social environment.

Silver Sneakers Cardio Circuit
Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. You will gain upper body strength, work with hand held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball, which is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching and relaxation exercises.

Silver Sneakers Yoga
Get ready to move through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered so you can perform a variety of seated and standing postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity. This class is suitable for nearly every fitness level.

Join us once a month for lunch out at various Geneva eateries. Enjoy your morning workout, then join your Y friends for a chat and lunch! Lunch is typically scheduled on a Wednesday afternoon mid month. Contact your instructors for more information.
