Plans for Summer Day Camp 2022 are in full swing at the Geneva Family YMCA!!  It has been another long and tough school year....isn't it time to have some FUN??  There is no better place for kids to connect, make new friends, try new things, and discover their potential.  One thing we know for sure: Kids need camp this year more than ever before!

We are following all CDC, local, state, and government covid-19 guidance.  We will continue to keep lines of communication open and transparent as summer approaches.

What is the Y doing to prioritize health
and safety for my child at camp?

Establishing and maintaining a safe and healthy camp experience for your child is our top priority.  In addition to the many steps we take every day to protect the health of our guests, campers, and staff we have worked diligently to meet or exceed all of the NYS Covid-19 guidelines for camp.

Our Current Safety Protocols & Policies include:

  • Group Size: Group sizes will be limited and we will respect guidance regarding camp group ratios and maximum campers per site.  Camp group, once determined, will remain together throughout camp and separated from other groups.

  • Daily Screening: All campers will be temperature-checked, and we will ask parents a set of questions about their recent health each time they drop off at camp

  • Masks / Face Coverings: Staff & campers will wear masks.

  • Swimming:  At this time, we plan to offer swimming as part of our Summer Program and will continue to modify based on the guidance we receive from governing agencies.

  • Floor markings and signage: We will mark off safe distances throughout our buildings to help keep children appropriately spaced. Reminders for handwashing, social distancing, and safe sneezing will be posted throughout the facility.

  • Hygiene: Scheduled handwashing breaks will be built into each group’s schedule. In addition to that, more hand sanitizer stations throughout the building for use.

  • Activities: Activities will be modified to limit physical contact. Equipment will be cleaned between uses and/or sufficient supplies will be provided for all campers to enjoy. We intend to keep camp fun and your campers can expect to enjoy many of the same favorite activities they have enjoyed in the past.

  • Field Trips:  At this time we are waiting for new guidance from the CDC, state and local government regarding field trips in 2022.  We will review the new guidance and make a determination on trips once we receive it.  We will update this page and our registered families as soon as we have information regarding the possibility of travel.

  • Cleaning: Our whole team will be regularly cleaning to disinfect our facilities throughout the day & our facilities team will perform a deep-clean every night after closing.

Establishing and maintaining a safe and healthy camp experience remains our top priority. In addition to the many steps we take every day to protect the health of our guests, campers, and staff, we are working diligently to incorporate recommendations from local, state, and national agencies. We are also continuing to work closely with the American Camping Association (ACA) and other YMCA’s across the country.

We will be keeping parents updated on key decisions regarding changes to our programming and safety protocols. We will be adjusting protocols as required per CDC and Health department guidelines, so we ask in advance for your patience as processes change accordingly.
